Conditioning is a form of Mind Control using repeated stimuli in response to a certain condition. The classic example is Pavlov's dog -- where Russian scientist Pavlov fed his dog a treat right after ringing a bell. After a while, the dog's mouth watered, as if it were hungry, by the sound of the bell. This specific type of Conditioning is called a "conditioned reflex".
Pavlovian style Conditioning has been found to work in humans as well, however, the ethics involved has severely limited research in this field. A study by John Watson on a Orphaned Infant in the early 1900s had a young child being startled every time he saw a white rat. After a short while, the white rat itself scared the child -- in addition, anything fluffy and white would also cause a great deal of fear in the orphan.
